Rants & Riffs

Rants & Riffs

This portion of the web site includes an archive of my monthly online columns which initially appeared at Meir Yedid’s MagicTimes.com. Rants & Riffs was introduced in 1998 after a 12 year hiatus from magic. After my last magical publishing venture, Ruminations: Magic That Makes You Think!, ended in 1987, I decided to drop out, pack up the magic books and tricks, and stop admitting to people I was a magician. I became very disenchanted by the state of the art and the people participating in it. Things appeared stagnant to me, and despite my best efforts to rally friends to try to break new ground, nothing changed.

I became somewhat of an introvert, and concentrated my energies on my corporate and consulting career. In so doing, I fared well and climbed the ladder of success rapidly. I am now a director for a major telecommunications company, and provide consulting services to a variety of companies across the country.

During my hiatus I have also relocated from New York City to Tulsa, Oklahoma -- A huge cultural change, but one I have grown comfortable with these past few years. Shortly after I made the move, I got married, bought a house, and had two children. So my life has been greatly enriched, and I feel most blessed.

Having accomplished many of my business and financial goals, I now find myself at a turning point in my life where I am once again looking for more creative outlets, preferably ones which will result in helping others – some via education and others more charitable in nature. The Magic Portal  is one such venue and I look forward to sharing others with you as they develop.
