EffectEffect: You have three cards selected and displayed face up on the
table. You then show a small pocket mirror and tell of the mysterious powers of the
ancient Philosopher's Mirror: whenever a person stares briefly into the mirror, their
image is momentarily captured.
To demonstrate this folk tale, you hold up the first selection up
to the mirror and let its image get captured. You then allow an indifferent card to
"stare" into the mirror, and it instantly changes into an exact duplicate of the
first selection! This is immediately repeated with the second selection.
You then warn the spectators that there is a danger: if a person
stares too long into the Philosopher's Mirror, their souls can be lost forever. To
demonstrate, you touch the third selection to the mirror and its face vanishes completely.
You then pass the mirror through your hands and the face of the third card can now be seen
trapped within the Mirror!
This is a fantastic routine which combines several effects without
a great deal of sleight of hand. The seven-page manuscript comes fully photo-illustrated.
