Back in the days when I published Ruminations monthly, I always included an idea
for a novel magical effect in each issue. In some cases, I described the illusion as I
wanted it to appear, and in other cases I offered suggested handlings. The object of the
exercise was to spark magicians to think beyond the normal boundaries of known commercial
magic, and to work together to create something more powerful.
Over the two years I published Ruminations, I received many fascinating
solutions to my magical puzzles, and a bonus issue was published each year with all of the
solutions I received. Based upon the interest this monthly magical challenge spawned, I
would like to bring it back via this web site.
Each month I will present an effect in the process of creation. In some cases I
will have a method and presentation already developed while in other cases I may have just
the effect with no means to execute it. Please send me your suggestions each month for
future publication and credit. Remember, no idea is too stupid or too simple. In fact, I
favor the more direct solutions over the more complex ones. To that end, enjoy this new
section of our site, and most of all, keep thinking!
