I love balloon animals! I tend not to incorporate them into a program, but instead use them as I walk around after the program. I keep my balloons, sorted by color, in a cloth carpenter's apron. That way I have my marker, scissors, and balloons all in easy reach. If you're working a small birthday party or something similar, you'd be wise to limit yourself to about fifty simple one-balloon animals. It will take you a while to get through all those kids. If the host/hostess doesn't care if everyone gets a balloon (in your dreams) then kick back and make balloons for your special helpers only. I try to account for the cost of balloons and time in my overall charge. If you're doing multiple balloon figures, then the price will be accordingly higher. It depends on what you want them to remember -- your magic, or your awesome balloons. When I worked restaurants, I did balloons with a few small magic tricks. When I did birthday parties, I did magic with a few balloons. Don't try to do it all unless you have unlimited time, or lots of helpers.
